This is a special Autumn excursion event. We will be learning how to safely forage for, and cook, Saffron Milk Cap mushrooms in the pine plantation forests of the Belanglo State Forest. The location is 1.5hrs drive from Parramatta. Please ensure that you leave home with enough time to be at the meeting point by 11:30am to minimise waiting time for the group

Cost: $15 per child (babies free)

Karlene Hindmarsh

BSB: 062 202

Acct No: 11043347

Meeting point (11:30am): Turn RIGHT off Hume Hwy (M31) at Belanglo Rd (look out for the green sign or you will miss the turn off). Take an immediate right hand turn into "Rest Area" car park (labelled as "Al's Donuts" van on Google maps). This is the final public toilet stop before we enter Belanglo State Forest.

Dress warmly and wear gumboots or enclosed shoes. The forest can get quite cold and muddy.

We will cook creamy mushrooms to have on crusty bread in the forest.

The creamy mushroom sauce will contain dairy and the bread will contain gluten. No dietary alternatives will be provided. All food is halal friendly.

Karlie will supply all cooking ingredients and equipment.

There will also be an educational group component based on the Autumn theme of fungi.

NB: This is a remote location. There are no water taps or toilets in the forest. Please be prepared to do bush wees/poos.

-Tissues & small plastic bag to take your waste/toilet tissues out of the forest and dispose of in a bin in the way home

-Enough drinking water/additional food/snacks that your family requires for the whole day

-BYO plates/bowls, cutlery, tissues for mushroom lunch

-Hand sanitiser

-Picnic blanket/mat/chairs

-A small knife to cut the mushrooms we find from the forest floor

-A flat cardboard box or basket in which to lay mushrooms flat to avoid damaging them

-Enough petrol in your tank so you don't risk running empty

I look forward to guiding you on this exciting Autumn adventure!

Stay wild, Karlie :)
